TRIACASTA´S HISTORY

We have:

- The pilgrim´s "meson": This is the pilgrim´s hoese of years ago.

- The pilgrim´s prison: This place exists because a lot of years ago the persons who were in prison could do the road to Santiago and then they were free.

- The pilgrim´s hospital: There was a cementery and a small church.

- One place for horses: The usual way to do the road to Santiago was horseback.

This monuments are not publics. (1500-1600)

- The chuch is romanesque.

T- he tower has benn built with three parts, this means: "3 parts" the same as "tria" (Triacastela).

- There are three castles engraved on, but here in Triacastela there isn´t any castle. When the tower has been built (1790) they made a mistake because "-castela" isn´t the same as castles, in spanish "castillos". The truth is: Here there are three "castros".

THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO

THE HUMAN AND SPIRITUAL DIMENSION

The Camino... the way... the road... What is the Camino? Are we walking to achieve human and spiritual objectives? Are we searching on the culture of the little villages along the way? Or is it a sport? Tourism? A holiday?

The Camino is not for simple tourism; the physical effort is worthy of higher things.

On the Camino you can seek and find yourself.

On the Camino you find the Brotherhood, through shared vision, projects, plans.

On the Camino you live amongst others.

You climb a stairway of values, the good and the bad.

You can support thase you meet along the way.

Getting to know yourself, you can get to know Jesus Christ.

The Camino was born from the faith of our aneestors, who were seeking something; the clear aim of faith is to express our inner selves, the life within us.

The Camino is universal; throughoot the world there are those who think is better to exclude others; the Camino shows us otherwise.

On the Camino you need-

            - To believe that humans have more virtues than vices.

            - To acept that those mistakes we make along the way are only signs of our humanity.

            - To carry on along the road, although at times you fall; by rising up, you  learn.

            - To believe through love, and not from fear; if you have fear, you may fear to love.

            - To believe freely; Faith is not a burden.

            - Not to be a slave, except to love.

Il you sense love, you will sense all that is arround you.

There are marks and signs along the Camino, but you must seek for directions within yourself.

All those on the Camino must, along the way, seek to help Jesus Christ in his task; working for a better world.
